WHO ARE THE STEEL MAGS?

The Steel Mags Sisterhood is a national group established by the Green Beret Foundation, with the goal of addressing the unique needs of qualifying female family members of United States Army Special Forces soldiers.

Steel Mags are resilient, brave, and compassionate women who serve to strengthen both the Green Berets they love as well as the Regiment, all while empowering each other. These ladies are held to a higher standard of conduct and represent the best virtues of the Special Forces community.

There are four pillars associated with the Steel Mags mission:

Philanthropy: Steel Mags are forces within their communities. They firmly believe that their reach extends far beyond the Regiment, and they strive to support and honor their local communities. Philanthropic efforts may include: toy and back-to-school drives, Habitat for Humanity builds, Wear Blue: Run to Remember, serving in soup kitchens, etc.

Education: The Steel Mags take great pride in educating the next generation of U.S. Army Special Forces spouses through their “ODA Q&A” events for those stationed at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. Additionally, a one-on-one mentorship program is available for active-duty spouses as they transition to the civilian world, whether through a medical evaluation board, retirement, or separation.

Event Planning: Steel Mags hold events all over the country to raise additional funds for the Green Beret Foundation. Whether it is a shooting competition, golf tournament, or beer-tasting event, the Steel Mags come together to raise awareness and support for the Green Berets they love.

Casualty Care: Our Gold Star and Surviving Steel Mags families are the backbone of our program. They work with Special Forces Group Family Readiness Groups (FRG’s) and additional volunteers to support and honor the families of the fallen in their time of need. They will always continue to raise awareness for our Green Berets who have made the final sacrifice, so that these heroes are never forgotten.
